The design of public spaces represents a significant challenge for people with special needs. Places for leisure activities in particular are often difficult or impossible for them to access. It requires considerable effort or special support to enable these people to visit them. This restriction of mobility and the resulting potential exclusion of people with disabilities often leads to the emergence of a parallel society. Conversely, this means that there is often no interaction between those two groups. However, the problems relating to the design of our environment only really become visible and can be faced when the challenges of other groups are explored: be it crossing the road for blind people, negotiating stairs for wheelchair users or placing an order with significant visual and learning impairments. An open space is therefore needed where points of contact can be created. so we are really happy to welcome you to the bar UnNorm. Bar UnNorm is more than just a meeting place—it's an innovative space designed to embody inclusion in everyday life. The bar was specifically created to bring together people with and without disabilities. By incorporating barrier-free architecture, tactile orientation aids, and easy accessibility, Bar UnNorm creates an environment where all visitors can actively participate, regardless of their physical or sensory abilities. Here, encounters are encouraged, barriers are broken down, and a new way of social interaction is made possible.
